Hate Rant #1

So, the semester is coming to a close and it's time to sign up for housing for the next school year. My roommate and I, and the rest of the quad and/or floor, got a letter saying that we were going to be displaced, meaning that we will have to move to a different floor/building. The letters said that we would have today and tomorrow to sign up for housing. So, my roommate and I went to the housing office this morning. We got there early so that we could make sure we got the place we wanted. One of the housing ladies showed up and said that they were going to start the signing-up a little bit early. They were only sending in 2 people at a time. Roommate went ahead of me. Apparently, the only semi-private rooms we could have gotten today were rooms in Wyly (I believe the smallest rooms), Logan, and Ross (our current dorm). The only people who could sign up to live in Haskell (the dorm we wanted) were the ones who were already living there. The housing lady did not tell us this when she first came by. Roommate and I wasted minutes waiting in line just for them to tell us that we could not sign up until tomorrow.

This is not the first time housing has screwed us over. Because roommate and I stayed on campus over the summer, we were able to move into our fall assignments earlier than the normal move-in day (our summer assignments were in a different dorm). After moving all our stuff into our fall assignment, roommate went to stay a week at her home in Tulsa. I stayed in our new room, unpacking stuff. Well, after a couple days of staying there, one of the other girls who had moved in early, came and told me that housing had put us in the wrong quad, and that we would have to move. *sigh* So, I called my roommate and told her what was going on, so she told her mom and they came up that night. The next day we moved into a quad across the hall.

Then, housing decided to close one of the other dorms down, so they could do some remodeling stuff. They were supposed to close after finals in December. Did they? No. They waited until the middle of this semester, right after spring break (I think) to close the building.

Roommate and I are really wanting to live off campus. One of our guy friends is wanting to live off campus too, so we may end up living somewhere with him, and possible one or two of our other friends.

This entire school is effed up.

It did. We were able to sign up for a room, not in Haskell, unfortunately. We will still be in Ross, just a different floor.
