Why I love what I love: Part Two

Reading.
My elementary school does this Sequoyah book list thing. Basically, there is a list of books that you can read and take a little quiz on. You get awarded for reading a certain amount. I remember participating in this when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I got to go on a trip to meet the author of one of the book, The Million Dollar Shot (I think). He signed it for me. I think that was when I really started reading. Since then, I have always had a book on me. Sometimes more than one. I used to read the Nancy Drew books. I would have 4 or 5 going at once. Now I usually just have 1 or 2.

Reading is my escape. It helps me to relax and get away from whatever I have going on. It's my comfort. I think my favorite time to read is when it's raining, I'm curled up with a good book and a warm blanket, maybe a cup of hot cocoa. This sounds cliche, but reading can take you places. It can take you anywhere. I love it when I can visually see what I'm reading. I get lost in it. I know, I'm such a nerd.

I enjoy reading mysteries, Christian romance, some historical fiction, a little sci fi. I mentioned that Harry Potter and Agatha Christi are my favorites. Christian romance set in 18th or early 19th Century. Jane Austen, Nicholas Sparks. Titanic is another of my favorites (well, my version that I have at least; there are many different stories of Titanic). Dan Brown is good. And many others.

I work at the library. Everytime I find a book that looks interesting, I want to sit down and read it. It can be anything. I might find a book about the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, and start flipping through the pages. It's probably a good thing I don't work in a bookstore. I would be so broke.

I really feel that everyone should read. There are so many good books out there. And a lot of these books can change someone's life. Look at the Harry Potter books and the inspiration it has sparked. It is amazing!
